Photo of the Week: Unloading Proppants - Port of Olympia
Photo showing proppants (tiny ceramic beads) inbound into the Port of Olympia that will eventually be placed on rail cars destined for North Dakota. "Proppants" are made of either natural sand or a processed sand/ceramic combination and are the mechanism by which "hydraulic fracturing" or "frac'ing" is accomplished.
